Lesley Edwards-Gaither, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, teaches the Multicultural Issues in Human Communication GPAC course. Dr. Edwards-Gaither’s areas of research include applications of telepractice technology and the needs of culturally-linguistically diverse populations. Dr. Edwards-Gaither’s innovative teaching style includes applying non-traditional areas of human communication, including the use of theories of cultural pluralism, the color-blind theory, LGBTQ+/identity, and spiritual/religious diversity as they apply to culturally diverse populations. Dr. Edwards-Gaither is working in partnership with the George Washington University Instructional Design team to develop the Multicultural Issues in Human Communication course into an asynchronous format which will open the course to more GWU students and majors across the university.

Dr. Edwards-Gaither is currently working on a textbook and clinical manual for telepractice/teletherapy applications for speech-language pathologists and students to be published in early 2022 (Plural Publishing). She has developed online training and learning tools used by universities, speech-language pathologists, and school districts utilized around the United States.
